Made a flower pot out of a toilet stool & need to drill holes for water drains. What drills thru porcelin????

I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of drill bit can be used to drill thru porcelin to make these drainage holes and won't break the porcelin???

  1. Porcelain is very brittle as you know and it may be difficult to accomplish your task, but I would try very carefully with a carbide tipped bit and some patience.


  2. They make a bit that is designed for ceramic tile this should work, Sears sells them probably ACE.

  3. A plain old concrete drill bit.

    Take a punch or nail and tap to get a starting point so drill won't slip. No problem...
