i made a face cast using slow setting alginate and then modroc on top of that once it had started setting.

however while i was putting on the last of the modoc my model started to say it felt really heavy above his eyes and as though it had all of a sudden collapsed. he actually started to panic me as he started getting nervous cos it felt so heavy and meant he struggled to breathe!!!!!!

when i took the mould of and cast from it using plaster it did look like the top of the face had almost collapsed a little bit. does anyone know how or what i could do next time to stop this happening????

also not alot of detail was picked up. although i followed the instructions on the algiate pack do you think it would be better if next time i made it slightly thinner???? and was slow setting alginate the best thing to use????

any tips appreciated.

thanks alot

  1. Did it get lumps in it?

Was it mixed to the right consistency?

What about putting straws up the model's nose to make sure their airways are open? Is that a possibility?

There are lots of demonstration videos on youtube - I'd have a look at some of these before you start again.
