I was adopted in 1991 from Sao Paulo Brazil. But born in Minas Gerais, Uberlandia. Can't speak my native language anymore but I am curious about my siblings and relatives in Brazil, if any. Where is the best place to start searching for relatives in South America. Your comments are greatly appreciated.

  1. Hi,

I've found a couple of sites which look like good places to start - - for free:

    http://www.kindredtrails.com/brazil.html

    http://genforum.genealogy.com/brazil/

Both of them contain several links to Brazilian genealogy sites, you might consider posting the names and location you know on the genforum site.

Good luck to you, I hope this helps!

  2. http://travel.state.gov/family/adoption/...

the govt agency which approves adoptions for that locality is shown on this page, as well as a link to finding APPROVED adoption agencies. Policies on information in all countries is going to vary, per their perspective. Some adoptions are sealed, while other places make the information accessible to any adoptee.

The dept in Minas Gerais has both website, and email access. That is where I would start, as well as researching the approved agency list. I would be surprised if they did not speak English.
