Question:

Made my first sale on Ebay. Buyer paid through Paypal. Is there any chance on fraud?

Hello,

I sold my mobile on ebay. It's the first time I have made a sale on ebay. The first time a spammer bid, but ebay sorted it out and thankfully I did not dispatch the good.

Now after re-listing someone else just bought the phone, and they paid instantly through Paypal. The money came into my Paypal account and I have arranged for it to go to my bank account. They say it will take 5-6 working days for the transfer to take place.

I just wanted to ask if it is safe to dispatch the good? The buyer has good ratings and no negative feedback.

  1. If the funds are already in your paypal acount, you are good.  You should ship the item out as soon as you can.

  2. Hello,

As the above answers say, once the money is in your PayPal account you should send the item.  You don't have to wait until it's paid into your bank account (which, by the way, will most probably take around 10 days if you're in the UK.)

Do make sure that the money is in your PP account though - log in and check that the transaction says 'completed' - because scammers are known to send out fake messages about payments.

Make sure that you send the mobile to the address shown on the PayPal transaction page and that you send it by Recorded Delivery (if it made less than £36) or Special Delivery(if it made more than that).  This is for your own safety, not the buyer's.

Don't send it overseas whatever you do.

  3. not being funny but if it was me who bidded & payed straight away i would expect you to post the item the same day :-)

  4. Go ahead and send it.  Once the money's in Paypal, you're good to go!
