Madeira Islands Open: Tommy Fleetwood's average performance drags him down to 10th position in second round

Tommy Fleetwood shot a 2-under 70 in the second round of the Madeira Islands Open – Portugal, dropping by eight positions on the leaderboard.
The 21-year-old Englishman played impressively in the first round and finished tied for the second position. However, he was unable to maintain his position in the second round and tied for the 10th at the end of the day.
He started the second round and shot six consecutive pars early. Then he made a bogey, a birdie and another bogey on the 7th, 8th and 9th hole respectively. He displayed an average performance on the front nine holes of the
Santo da Serra in Madeira, Portugal.
He then tried hard to cope up the low scores and shot four birdies on the back nine holes. However, he ended the second round by carding another bogey on the 18th hole.
He was one of the most appealing players on Thursday. He was tremendous to scoring on Thursday, whereas unable to continue or maintain his scoring on Friday.
Fleetwood started the first round with two birdies and was scoring sensibly. He shot a 34 on the front nine holes and amazed the spectators on the back nine as well.
He carded four massive birdies from 11th to 18th hole and competed well for the top leaderboard position. He shot a 6-under 66 on Thursday, one of the best scores from him on the European Tour.
"Anytime you shoot a 66 is good and the course was very much for the taking this morning," Fleetwood said, after finishing the first round. "You shouldn't get conditions any better than that as there was no wind, and it was the best chance of scoring well
you could get".
He is now on the 10th leaderboard position and five strokes behind the leader Oliver Wilson, who scored a 13-under 131 so far. Wilson played two bogey-free rounds and amazed all his fans and spectators, after such impressive performances.
Now, to reach back on the top again, Fleetwood has to be more consistent in scoring from the third round. If he scores well, then he can be among the top-5 players and no one can stop him.
