Madeline Dirado wins Women’s 400m IM title: Day three – 2011 World University Games
Day three of the 2011 World University Games ended with impeccable splash of United States swimmer, Madeline Dirado in Shenzhen, China, on Tuesday, August 16. The final session of the meet conducted the Women’s 400m Individual Medley race.
In the corresponding meet, Dirado picked the gold medal on the podium by posting a matchless time of 4 minutes and 40.79 seconds. Meanwhile, Miho Takahashi of Japan earned silver medal by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 42.28 seconds, whereas, Joerdis
Steinegger snared bronze medal on the podium with an impressive time of 4 minutes and 43.30 seconds.
Izumi Kato of Japan was placed fourth in 4 minutes and 43.70 seconds, while Anne Katheryn Meaklim of South Africa rounded out the top five with an impressive time of 4 minutes and 44.98 seconds.
United States’ Andrea Taylor was placed sixth in a time of 4 minutes and 46.40 seconds, while Miriam Johanna Pierse of Canada settled seventh in a time of 4 minutes and 48.32 seconds. Evelyn Jessica Pengelly of South Africa finished eighth in a time of 4
minutes and 48.68 seconds.
Earlier, Ye Sun of China took home the gold medal in the Women’s 200m breast-stroke event by submitting a fastest time of 2 minutes and 24.63 seconds. In the corresponding meet, Andrea Kropp of United States was placed second on the podium as she touched
the finishing wall by posting an immaculate time of 2 minutes and 26.18 seconds. Meanwhile, Satomi Suzuki of Japan earned third place honours by submitting an impressive time of 2 minutes and 26.67 seconds.
Additionally, Melania Schmid Cost of Spain grabbed the Women’s 200m freestyle gold medal on the podium by posting a stunning time of 1 minute and 57.98 seconds. In the corresponding race, Lauren Boyle of New Zealand finished second in a time of 1 minute
and 59.19 seconds, while Karlee Bispo of United Stated rounded out the top three on the podium by submitting a matchless time of 1 minute and 59.31 seconds.
