Madeline Groves of Australia Gold occupied gold medal of the Women’s 200m butterfly on first day of the 2013 Australian Youth Olympic Festival at Berkeley Aquatic Club, on Thursday, January 17, 2013.
The 17-year-old showed no mercy to her opponents in the playoff as she transpired on wall for gold medal. With her relentless efforts, Groves remained prominently ahead of her opponents and stepped on the finishing end for gold medal.
She remained nearly two arm-strokes ahead of her closest competitor and surfaced on the wall for gold medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 11.20 seconds.
The champion was chased by Rino Hosoda of Japan, who stayed 0.37 seconds slower from her former finisher and surfaced on the wall for silver medal by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 11.57 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Alanna Bowled of Australia Gold, who was 1.09 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing wall for bronze medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 12.66 seconds.

In addition, Groves received a huge round of applause from the audience for her commendable form at the victory ceremony of the event.
