Madeline Groves occupy Women’s 200m butterfly gold – Australian Youth Olympic Festival
Madeline Groves of Australia Gold occupied gold medal of the Women’s 200m butterfly on first day of the 2013 Australian Youth Olympic Festival at Berkeley Aquatic Club, on Thursday, January 17, 2013.
The 17-year-old showed no mercy to her opponents in the playoff as she transpired on wall for gold medal. With her relentless efforts, Groves remained prominently ahead of her opponents and stepped on the finishing end for gold medal.
She remained nearly two arm-strokes ahead of her closest competitor and surfaced on the wall for gold medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 11.20 seconds.
The champion was chased by Rino Hosoda of Japan, who stayed 0.37 seconds slower from her former finisher and surfaced on the wall for silver medal by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 11.57 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Alanna Bowled of Australia Gold, who was 1.09 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing wall for bronze medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 12.66 seconds.
Fourth position of the event was obtained by Emily Overholt of Canada, who was half a body length behind and appeared on the finishing end by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 13.01 seconds.
Overholt was chased by Megan Gianotti of Australia Green, who stayed 0.15 seconds slower from her former finisher and reached the wall for fifth position by posting an effort of 2 minutes and 13.16 seconds.
Sixth position of the race was secured by Dalma Sebestyen of Hungary, who stayed 1.09 seconds apart and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 14.25 seconds.
Sebestyen was traced by Ziyun Wu of China, who stayed nearly six seconds slower from her former finisher and reached the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 20.56 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Melita Raravula of New Zealand, who was 3.10 seconds apart and touched the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 23.66 seconds.
In addition, Groves received a huge round of applause from the audience for her commendable form at the victory ceremony of the event.
