Madison Bumgarner dominates as San Francisco Giants defeat Los Angeles Dodgers 3-1 - Part 1
Madison Bumgarner put in a dominating performance as the San Francisco Giants defeated Los Angeles Dodgers 3-1 at Dodger Stadium on Thursday, May 19.
The two game set between the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers ended in a victory for the current World Series Champions, the Giants. The match took place amid heavy security due to the history and nature of events that have occurred at the
tainted Dodger Stadium.
This game is the first one that is being played at the Dodger Stadium between the two teams following the horrific beating of Bryan Stow, a Giants fan, by two men in Dodger gear. Stow is still in a medically induced coma from which the doctors don’t know
when or if he’ll recover. The reward for help in the arrest of suspects has been recently raised to $200,000 by the police who have been distributing sketches of the suspects at all games.
This series win marks the change in the Giants performance which has been going downhill recently. They have been heavily criticised for not coming up with hits even with a power packed offensive line-up. Aubrey Huff, their famed hitter in particular has
been shredded by critics and fans alike who feel like he’s paying more attention to the media and making advertisements as compared to what’s going on in the field. He has managed to pick himself up and has been improving steadily which can only mean good
things for San Francisco.
The Dodgers have been going through their share of turbulence in the past few weeks, which is apparently translating into losses for the team when they’re in the field. Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig has taken over the Dodgers and the day-to-day
dealings of the franchise are now out of owner Frank McCourt’s hands. As expected McCourt is ready to fight nail and tooth to get back his team which has been struggling financially since McCourt got control of it.
According to baseball officials there is quite some chance that the Dodgers won’t have enough cash to make the end of May’s pay roll to their players which totals to almost $8.25 million. Incase McCourt cannot make the payments to players then MLB will step
in to do so but that will prevent the players from signing on for free agent status.
Another twist in the story comes as McCourt’s ex-wife Jamie McCourt, has asked for the franchise to be sold so that she may get her share that was settled in the divorce. The ongoing mess surrounding the status of the Dodgers franchise is creating problems
for the team on the field, as they continue their record of bad performances.
