Madison Bumgarner’s shut-out innings help San Francisco Giants crush Colorado Rockies 7-0

San Francisco Giants’ starter, Madison Bumgarner had a remarkable day with the ball as he pitched his seven score-less innings with an ERA of 3.21 and gave the Giants a 7-0 victory over the Colorado Rockies at AT&T Park, San Francisco on September 27.
Giants got off to a good start as they scored one run at the bottom of first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Andres Torres added the first run for the Giants when Mike Fontenot hit a sacrifice fly to left-field. The pitchers threw fabulously during the second
and third inning as they did not allow any runs. Brandon Belt singled off left-field but Eli Whiteside struck-out and Bumgarner ground out without adding any run for Giants at the bottom of the second inning.
Similarly, Rockies were also score-less in the third inning as Alex White ground out and Mark Ellis flied out without taking any run. During the fourth, Belt hit a two-run homer towards right-field and Conor Gillaspie scored a single run to give the Giants
a 3-0 lead. In the fifth inning, Rockies’ right-fielder Ty Wigginton struck-out, Wilin Rosario flied out and Thomas Field fouled out without posting even a single run.
Bumgarner gave away only two hits and struck-out nine batters on his 95 pitches. He said, “If somebody with his speed is able to run around, fall down and still make it, he must have hit it a long way. That's a good first home run story.”
Giants’ manager, Bruce Bochy said, “From last year and earlier this season you've seen the growth in this kid. He's got presence out there, he's got poise and he keeps coming at you.”
San Francisco raised their lead 5-0 by adding two runs at the bottom of the sixth inning. Brandon Crawford hit a triple-run drive to deep right-field and Belt posted a single run. The second run was taken by Crawford on the wild pitch of Rockies’ reliever
Esmil Rogers. In the seventh inning, Giants further advanced their lead 7-0 when the batters took two runs.
Gillaspie struck a two-run homer towards deep right-centre and Brett Pill contributed the final run for the Giants. Ellis singled to left-field during the ninth inning but Dexter Fowler and Kevin Kouzmanoff both struck-out without adding the first run for
Colorado.
Consequently, Giants were on top with a 2-0 lead in a three-game series played at AT&T Park.
