Madrid battling it out with Newcastle for Mathieu Debuchy

Madrid have entered into a bidding battle with Newcastle United for Lille’s right-back, Mathieu Debuchy.
Madrid have bid €10 million for the French right-back, surpassing Newcastle United’s bid of €7.6 million.
Debuchy has expressed his desire to leave Lille despite the club stating that he won’t be sold, and even rejecting previous bids made by the British team.
However, Madrid have recently entered the race and it seems like Mourinho has a good plan for the French national.
With Madrid’s attacking style game, it seems that Debuchy would do well as a right wing-back.
This could mean that Mourinho has other plans for Alvaro Arbeloa. Although Debuchy has been playing in defence for the past few years, he originally started off as a playmaker on the wing, which is something Real could make use of.
It was Debuchy's outstanding performance in the 2012 UEFA European Championship that made him come under the spotlight, especially for the Portuguese manager.
However, it is doubtful that Lille will be willing to sell him for just €10 million. They have invested in him for 19 years, and the player is still young, and rising. If they are going to sell, they’ll need a bit more incentive.
The heat is on between Newcastle and Real.
Before Real came into the picture, it seemed like Newcastle would see the French national as a magpie, but it’s not every day you get an offer from Real Madrid for a spot in the squad.
With Modric’s move to Real complete, and with their recent win over arch rivals, Barcelona, in the Spanish Super Cup, becoming a member of Los Blancos seems more and more evident for the Frenchman.
Mourinho’s start to the season may not have been the best one, but the Frenchman’s skill might exactly be the missing piece of the puzzle.
Debuchy seems eager to move, however, the question is really whether Lille is willing to settle for less than what they feel they deserve.
After all, 19 years of investment is a lot of time and money, and they want some of that time and money to go in their own favour.
