By beating arch rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 in the Supercopa de Espana, Madrid proved the fact that it’s just the start of the season, and they are still in it.
“Unacceptable,” was Jose Mourinho’s response to Madrid’s 2-1 defeat to Getafe in their last la liga match.
Apart from Jose Mourinho, other spectators, admirers and critics of the club had harsh comments about the match.
The players did not click well, goals were being scored on dead balls, and Los Blancos’ defence was far too open.
Jose Mourinho also stated, “When there is an individual error there is nothing I can do about it.” Meaning the extremely successful manager had a few words for certain team members back in the locker room.
However, the Supercopa win shows that the team finally reacted the way the Portuguese manager wanted them to.
By beating Barca 2-1 in the second round of the Super Cup, the Spanish champions ended up winning the whole tournament by aggregate scoring due to their away goals.
Winning the only Spanish cup that was missing from his drawing room glass cabinet, Jose Mourinho has proven to everybody that a disappointing start in a season is only a start, and that everybody should keep on their toes for the rest of the league season.
On winning the cup, star player, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629, made a few statements to the press.
“The trophy will give us confidence. We should enjoy the moment but also realise that we must now move forward and know that we cannot afford to make any more mistakes," said the Portugese forward.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734 also made a few comments as to his side’s game-play, stating, “We know we have to improve as a group as well as individually. We started the game against Barca well, scoring two goals, but then relaxed and eased off as we became tired”.
Apart from a major morale boost for Los Blancos, who are five points behind top of the table runners, Barcelona, one would expect Barcelona’s squad members to fall lower than ever.
However, according to new coach, Tito Vilanova, this is anything but a “psychological blow."
He states that he was proud of his ten men in the second half, who were able to create five scoring chances despite their major disadvantage. He further stated, “...it isn't make-or-break for the season and we now return to the league.” So it looks like
Barca are ready to get back into the game, and show the league that they are unfazed by the defeat against Real Madrid.
Madrid also have a Champions League match with English league champions, Manchester City, coming up soon.
They’re going to have to continue all the progress they’ve made with their Super Cup win if they want to survive in both La Liga, and the Champions League.
