Madrid under pressure for upcoming Spanish Super Copa match

With a disappointing start to the season Real Madrid have no other option but to pull up their socks and win their next Spanish Super Copa league match against arch rivals Barcelona.
With possibly his most disappointing start to a season, Jose Mourinho has no other choice but to beat Barcelona this Thursday in the second leg of the Spanish Super Copa.
Losing to Barca in the first leg by 3 goals to 2, and then being on the losing side again against Getafe, Madrid’s morale is at an all time low.
Unlike in their loss to Barcelona in the first leg, Mourinho did not blame the match officials for his defeat against Getafe. The Special One stated:
“We deserved to lose,” Mourinho heavily criticized his team, and why wouldn’t he? His strikers were slow, unbalanced, and even with the likes of Ronaldo, Higuain and Benzema on the pitch till the 90th minute, there was
no connection."
With goals being scored constantly on dead balls, Mourinho is getting more impatient by the match, stating:
“In the last games we have worked more than ever on defending dead ball situations, with only two days to go until the next game we can’t do anymore, it’s up to the players to do their jobs.”
However, Madrid may have a chance with their new transfer from Tottenham. Yet, it should be noted that Mourinho playing Modric just three days after bringing him in from Tottenham is highly improbable, but then again the Portuguese
is known for taking huge risks.
While Madrid have started off with a terrible season, Barcelona sit on the top of the league table, sure it has only been two matches, but with a 5 point lead over their rivals, you cannot help to think that they are performing
above par, unlike their white counterparts at the Bernabeu.
With a 2-1 win over Osasuna this past Sunday, Barcelona are in top form.
Along with their recent win against Osasuna, Barcelona’s win against Madrid in the first leg is bound to play a mental factor in the game.
However, with a possible absence of Puyol due to his recent injury, Barcelona may have a tough time back in defence, although Gerard Pique is more than capable of holding up the fort.
Pique has also made it clear that he knows how important the first season title is, stating:
“It’s more for the title than the idea of winning it in the Bernabeu. It’s a trophy and the tie is finely balanced so either side can win it.”
When the Barca players were questioned about their views on Madrid’s disappointing start, Puyol stated that he was surprised at the 5-point gap, but he also stressed on the point that Madrid is not to be underestimated by stating:
“We are fighting against one of the best sides in the world so we have to be prepared”.
Madrid need this win, and they have no other option but to win. Mourinho better find out what’s going wrong and fix it quick, or he can kiss the title good bye.
