Madridistas Roaring; Six Real Madrid Players Could Play In The Finals
Madridismo is running high in South Africa, as six Real Madrid players have found themselves in the hunt for the illustrious Cup.
Headed by none other than Real Madrid’s legendary keeper Iker Casillas, footballers Sergio Ramos, Alonso, Albiol, Arbeloa, and Van der Vaart are looking to impress in the grandest stage of them all—the Real Madrid way, of course.
The 2010 FIFA World Cup semi finals will feature Spain vs. Germany and Netherlands vs. Uruguay.
With 5 Madridistas included in La Furia Roja and Van der Vaart playing for the Netherlands, there is a great chance that Real Madrid will have a representative in this year’s World Cup.
Playing with the same intensity he shows when wearing the white shirt, Sergio Ramos has stayed true to the methods of Real Madrid. And it is paying off real well given the superb showing of the Spaniards.
"There is a great atmosphere. We are a tight-knit group and we enjoy spending time together. We have to play with our hearts and put forth our best effort," stated the defender.
Sergio has had his fair share of chances, crosses, and challenges—and will certainly his stock rise at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.
Rafael Van der Vaart, on the other hand, has recovered from his left calf injury and is ready to return to the fold.
“The Dutch want to see us win the World Cup. We all want it more than anything and we know that we have the talent to bring it home," said the Madrid midfielder.
It is still unclear whether Van der Vaart will see a return trip to the Bernabéu, following rumors of a potential summer switch.
According to reports, Liverpool have reportedly opened talks with Real Madrid for the services of the Dutch midfielder. But as of today, the highly-rated Van der Vaart is still a Galactico and will surely try to win the Cup with “the Whites” in his heart.
Iker Casillas, as always, has rescued the national team with his brilliant saves, spectacular plays, and unquestionable leadership on the pitch. Against Paraguay, the Madridista saved a penalty and, as usual, cleared the ball well. His work ethic in the White shirt has carried over to the national shirt, which is why Spain is still in the running for the Cup.
Casillas did such a tremendous job for Los Blancos that powerhouse teams like Manchester United and Manchester City are queuing up for a chance to lure the keeper away from Real Madrid.
However, Casillas has admitted that he would find it very difficult to leave Spain and Real Madrid.
"I'm always flattered whenever another club shows interest in my qualities as a goalkeeper. I have been at Real Madrid all my career and I still enjoy going to training every day... I'm not going to say never. Right now Madrid would have to kick me out of the club before I consider a move,” stated the Spanish skipper.
A couple of Madridistas have also exited the tournament, namely Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Brazil’s Kaka.
The flamboyant Ronaldo had a disappointing World Cup, despite having a stellar first season in Real Madrid. Kaka, on the other hand, struggled with a groin injury when he donned the Real Madrid jersey, but has since recovered his form, and created spectacular chances for his national side.
Unfortunately, both players will head home empty-handed because their respective national sides failed to assist the two Madridistas’ efforts.
When it is all said and done, the Club can certainly claim that its players have lived up to its values. The Madridistas who featured in this edition of the World Cup tried their very best. And that’s all that matters.
Hala Madrid!
