Mads Conrad Petersen and Jonas Rasmussen nail Men’s Doubles title at Yonex DM 2012
Denmark’s talented shuttlers, Mads Conrad Petersen and Jonas Rasmussen defeated their higher ranked compatriots, Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen in the final showdown and nailed Men’s Doubles title at the Yonex DM 2012 on Sunday, February 5, in Denmark.
The second seeded Mads Conrad and Jonas, who are placed at Number 15 in Men’s Doubles world rankings played to their maximum potential and overpowered the World Number Three, Boe and Mogensen, who were also the top seeds in the tournament.
The lower ranked Mads Conrad and Jonas won the final contest by putting up phenomenal show of attacking badminton. They ended the match in three games by taking the court time for 61 minutes.
In the first set, Mads Conrad and Jonas were the first to dominate the rallies as they played flawless badminton and remained ahead of their higher ranked team-mates. However, Boe and Mogensen slowly found their momentum and managed a small lead of 11-10 until the break.
After the one-minute interval, Mads Conrad and Jonas played quivering badminton and also committed many unforced errors which helped their top seeded opponents to stretch their lead. The second seeds lost the opening game with a margin of 14-21.
In the second set, Mads Conrad and Jonas worked really hard but failed to break the momentum of their rivals until the break where they were behind at 9-11.
However, after the break, Mads Conrad and Jonas lifted up their play and managed to level the score by pushing their rivals on back foot.
The score was 15-15 when the second seeded pair displayed impressive skills and managed to win the game with a 21-17 score on the board.
In the decider, Mads Conrad and Jonas were on a different level as they stunned their higher ranked compatriots by dominating the game with their incredible skills. They set up a surprising lead of 11-5 until the break.
After the interval, Mads Conrad and Jonas continued their positive and fast play and did not let their rivals to fight back in the game. They dictated the pace of rallies in the whole set and ended it in an emphatic fashion with a striking margin of 21-14.
This Men’s Doubles entertaining title match ended in 61 minutes with a 14-21, 21-17 and 21-14 score on the board.
