Madzli Ikmar seems fit to represent Negri Sembilan in Razak Cup: Hockey News
Madzli Ikmar, one of the promising players in the Malaysian national hockey team, is quite hopeful and looking fit for his comeback in the fields of hockey. Earlier this month, in the Sultan Azlan Shah Men’s Hockey Tournament, which was played at his home
soil, he had to suffer from a serious injury while playing against Australia and one of his jaws was fractured. As a result of this injury he watched the remaining matches of the event by sitting on the bench while his national team could only manage to finish
at the last place in the tournament.
Looking physically fit, Ikmar will represent Negri Sembilan in the Razak Cup South Zone Qualifier, which is going to be held from June 3-5. The Negri Sembilan will be up in front of Malacca and Johor for their way to the Division One. The top two teams from
the group will qualify for Division One while the third positioned team will be downgraded to Division Two.
S. Chandran, the coach of Negri Sembilan seems pretty hopeful for better performance from his side in this campaign contrary to last year’s performance. Last year, Negri Sembilan could not win a single game in the qualification round as they lost to Johor
by 2-1 and played a drawn match against Malacca at scores of 0-0. However, this year they have a lot of young players along with some national team players and that is why the coach, Chandran is quite convinced for better results from his young blood players.
“Our national players are goalkeeper S. Kumar, Marhan Jalil and Madzli Ikmar and the former players are S. Kuhan and Suhaimi Ibrahim. The rest will be junior players as we plan for the future and stop relying on old hands like in previous year,” the coach
S. Chandran stated about his team.
“He said he wants to help Negri in the Qualifiers as there is still time for him to fully recover from the injury,” Chandran further added.
After recovering from his injury, Ikmar has started training with Negri Sembilan and is all set to go for Razak Cup.
