Madzli Ikmar will not be playing in match against India tomorrow - Azlan Shah News
One of Malaysia’s key players, Mohammaed Madzli Ikmar, was injured in the last day’s match against Australia, during the 20th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Ipoh, Malaysia and will not be playing in the upcoming fixture.
The player has been asked to rest, which means he may not appear in the next respective matches of the tournament. For the time being, he has been asked to wait for the assessment of his injury that will be done on Monday, May 9, and will not be playing the match tomorrow against India.
Madzli commented about his injury by saying, “It was not painful at first as all I felt was numbness and when I put my hand to my face I could see the blood. That is why I walked off instead of asking for a stretcher. This is not the first time I was hit on the face as I was also injured during the Test match against New Zealand prior to the Commonwealth Games last year.”
"It is unfortunate that I cannot play on Monday (against India). But I hope that the doctors will give me the green light after they set my nose back. I want to look good again," he added.
The injury had occurred in a try to stop a rebound goal while defending against Australia in the Friday match. The ball hit him on the face, close to his eyes that made its impact felt later on the player.
With the pain on the rise, Madzli was immediately taken to the hospital. The report said that the player had a compound fracture to his nose and swelling on his cheek.
Despite the injury, Madzli hopes that he is not ruled out of the competition, as he wants to help his team end up among the top-four, as targeted by their coach, Tai Beng Hai.
However, nothing can be said unless an assessment report is completed. By then, the player will have to sit back, relax and hope to continue the event.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian coach has tightened the training for the host team, after facing defeat against both Australia and Great Britain in the Azlan Shah Cup.
