Maeva Couade-Courtois captures Women’s 400m IM title: 2012 French Short Course Nationals
Maeva Couade-Courtois of CN Antibes captured gold medal of the Women’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) in 14-18 years old age group on fourth day of the 2012 French Short Course Nationals on Sunday, November 18.
Couade-Courtois devastated hopes of her opponents in the distant IM discipline as she proved her mettle for the title.
With her gruelling efforts in the initial round of the race, Couade-Courtois gained a marginal lead over her challengers and surfaced on the wall for gold medal with a timing of 4 minutes and 50.01 seconds.
The champion was followed by Marine Dekein of ASPTT Limoges, who stayed 1.98 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and surfaced on the wall for silver medal with a timing of 4 minutes and 51.99 seconds.
The second fastest finisher was chased by Alizee Morel of Olympic Nice Natation, who stayed 1.29 seconds apart and tapped the wall for third position by producing an effort of 4 minutes and 53.28 seconds.
Fourth position of the race was obtained by Sarah Vaisse of Amiens Metropole Natation, who stayed almost full body length behind and surfaced on the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 54.17 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Emilie Petit of Alliance Dijon Natation, who stayed more than a body length behind and posted an effort of 4 minutes and 55.49 seconds.
Similarly, Petit was traced by Clothilde Peseux of Avenir Natation Besancon, who was considerably slower from her former finisher and tapped the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 58.58 seconds for sixth place.
Seventh spot of the event was obtained by Chloe Delcamp of CSN Guyancourt, who was almost half a second behind and clocked a time of 4 minutes and 59.08 seconds.
Delcamp was traced by Emeline Biehlmann of Canet 66 Natation, who was unable to overpower any of her opponents and finished eighth in the race with a timing of 5 minutes and 02.52 seconds.
In addition, Couade-Courtois was overjoyed with her top finish in the event and collected medal and accolades at the victory ceremony of the race.
