Magath expressed his delight on the transfer and claimed that Pogatetz is a great player with immense experience in the Bundesliga. He insisted that the defender has given some sensational performances for Hannover in the two years he spent at the club and has been a rock in the heart of defence for Die Roten.
The former Schalke boss stressed that Pogatetz is a determined player who can pull in some amazing tackles throughout the course of the game and tipped the Austrian to shine for the Wolves next season.
“He is an experienced player who can organise at the back. He is always very committed, never pulls out [of challenges] and is willing to put himself on the line for the good of the team,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The Bundesliga winning manager added that the club is ecstatic to have convinced the defender to be part of the plans for the future. He insisted that the player knows the side’s prospects for the future and he is ready to be part of it.
“We are very happy to have been able to convince Emanuel of the prospects he has with Wolfsburg,” he concluded.
Emanuel Pogatetz made 56 league appearances for Mirko Slomka’s side in the two years he spent at the club and scored a solitary goal in return. The player also has 47 international caps to his name and has found the back of the net on two occasions.
VfL Wolfsburg finished the previous season in eighth place with a total of 44 points from the 34 games played. The side marginally missed on the UEFA Europa League spot and will be without European football next season.
