The veteran boss was looking forward to cause a shock defeat to the Bundesliga giants, but was forced to concede that his team could not compete with the quality of the Bavarian club.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881 head coach, Felix Magath, confirmed that he had an intuition that Bayern Munich would not field a strong team against his lowly ranked side, but was surprised to see them take the clash seriously as Die Roten completed
a convincing 3-0 win at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday.
The league leaders continued their superb form in their home tie against Wolfsburg and achieved an easy win, although the visiting team gave them a tough time. The away side is currently tenth on the league table. Moreover, Magath
has previously coached Die Bayern from 2004-07 and helped them win two domestic titles.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bastian-Schweinsteiger-c7374 gave the home team an early lead in the first-half, before former Wolfsburg striker Mario Mandzukic added two more to his tally of five league goals to secure the three points for Der
FCB. Therefore, Magath admitted that his rivals were too good for them to beat.
The 59-year-old revealed he was hoping that the Reds will be relaxed for the Tuesday’s encounter but his wishes were dashed by the 3-0 humiliating defeat. He revealed that the Roten were on top of their game as they put a lot of
pressure with pressing football.
"I hoped Bayern might not take us seriously after all their recent good performances. But my hopes were dashed straight away," Magath was quoted as saying in an interview.
Magath maintained that the current crop of players at Bayern are world class and they can display an exceptional game, and that can be seen as they are yet to drop a single point in their current campaign.
"Bayern immediately put us under pressure and played good football,” he mused.
"We have to accept that Bayern are too good for us at the moment," he finally concluded.
Bayern are sitting comfortably at the top of the league rankings with a perfect record until now. They are leading second-placed Eintracht Frankfurt by two points and defending champions’ Borussia Dortmund by seven.
