VfL Wolfsburg manager Felix Magath is content with the win against Stuttgart as the team has ended the first-half of the campaign on a high note.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 won their last fixture of the year at the Volkswagen Arena on Saturday courtesy a goal from Sebastian Polter in the second-half. The home side played some great football throughout the course of 90 minutes and deserved
all points in the end.
Magath claimed that the team has kept hopes alive for a place in Europe at the end of the season with the win against Stuttgart and admitted that these three points could be crucial in determining the position as the campaign further
unfolds.
The former Schalke manager added that his team found their footing later in the first-half and created only a few chances. But the hosts were an improved team after the interval as they created a host of opportunities to score.
The manager admitted that it was a wrong decision to play Hasan Salihamidzic in attack when the second-half started as the finishing was poor. He insisted that the gamble to bring on striker Sebastian Polter paid off and it was
a deserved win in the end.
“We slowly got into the game in the first half and in the second I wanted to bring more stability to our attack by introducing Hasan Salihamidzic. That didn't work out, so I had to correct my error and bring on a proper striker
in Sebastian Polter. That worked,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Meanwhile, Die Roten boss http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bruno-c8098 Labbadia was disappointed with the result as he felt the team failed to capitalise on the chances coming their way. He claimed that the side will have to show a massive improvement after the break
if they want to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
“We're more than disappointed. We caused Wolfsburg a lot of problems in the first half hour but our finishing was pathetic. In the second half we played alright, but we weren't incisive enough. It's really, really annoying,” he
concluded.
