Wolfsburg have had the poorest away form in the league as they have lost nine games from the 13 played. They have only been able to win two times with the second coming against Nuremberg this Saturday.
The former Schalke boss admitted that the team has shown improvement in the last few weeks and the quality has certainly improved. He stressed that his side deserved to win the game and were worthy winners after an impressive display.
“I'm glad we've finally managed to win on the road again for the first time since the season opener at Koln, although we were showing signs of getting there in our recent game at Kaiserslautern. There's more stability to the team
and the quality of the football has improved too. We produced some good forward play and deserved to win,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, Nuremberg manager Dieter Hecking added that it was a pathetic performance from his side. He stated that the team failed to make successful tackles and were totally dominated by a strong Wolfsburg side.
“We're all very disappointed. From the very first minute it was a poor performance. We came off second-best in too many tackles and didn't close our opponents down properly,” the tactician concluded.
VfL Wolfsburg will next take on Hamburg in their next fixture at home on Friday, March 23.
