The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-c11058 can become an important player at the club and is convinced that the midfielder will find his form.
Diego and Felix Magath have been at loggerheads since the Brazilin international moved to the club from Juventus in the summer of 2010. The player has had problems with the manager’s training technique and created controversy at
the end of last season when he walked out of a team meeting after knowing he was not playing.
The former Werder Bremen man was loaned out to La Liga side Atletico Madrid last season where he won the UEFA Europa League, but the Spanish side refused to sign him on a permanent basis. The midfielder has decided to stay and
has apologised to the fans for his erratic behaviour.
Magath insisted that he is keen to give the midfielder another chance to prove his worth at the Volkswagen Arena next season. The manager admitted that the Brazilian has real class and can help the side in a huge way if he plays
to his potential.
The former Schalke boss is aiming high for the next campaign and insists that Diego’s form can prove vital for his side in the course of the season.
“Diego is a Champions League player and a player of his class increases the chances of us reaching one of the top places in the table,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Magath stated that the player will wear the number 10 shirt next term and wants the midfielder to anchor a playmaking role to help his teammates in creating opportunities.
“Diego will get the number 10 shirt. He is a central player who can bring his team mates into the game and score goals himself. As the playmaker, it will be his task to lead his team mates to their best performance,” he concluded.
The 27-year-old has made only 30 league appearances for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 since his €15.5 million move from Juventus in the summer of 2010, scoring six times in return. The player also has 33 international caps to his name.
