Magazine Sales- What % is Subscriptions?

Hi,

On average for any one magazine, what percentage of sales are from magazine subscriptions? On a yearly or monthly basis.

Depends on the magazine.  For the pop mags like people, vogue, women's mags the percentage is low.  10-15 %  They get their money from the ads revenue instead.

In academic mags its the opposite.  Subs make up the bulk of the revenue, because they don't have the base for ad revenue.  I mean who is going to look atlipstick ads in Nulcear Medicine Today?
