Magdalena Piekarska leads the Women’s Epee Individual list: Fencing News
The International Federation of Fencing has updated the rankings for the month of June on 29th of this month. The Polish Magdalena Piekarska is still leading the Women’s Epee Individual Rankings for 2010-11 seasons.
There were so many major changes which occurred during this month’s updates. Only Piekarska was the fencer who could secure her first place in the rankings, otherwise all the remaining fencers have dropped their places. Last month, Piekarska attained 218
points.
In the month of June, she participated in two events, which included Challenge Australia in Sydney and Tournoi International in Nankin. She could not qualify for quarter-finals in Nankin on June 11, and got dropped from the table of 16. She was ranked at
the ninth spot in that competition with 12 points.
The Challenge Australia took place on June 24, and it was organised by The Australian Fencing Federation. She successfully qualified for the final against the Russian Lubov Shutova. She amazingly tied the bout with 14-14 points. The referee gave them an
additional minute that was lucky for Shutova. She hit the decider hit and won the match. Piekarska ended with a silver medal in the competition and was ranked second in the competition. Sydney World Cup awarded him 26 points. She is still on the top of the
Women’s Epee Individual.
Hungarian Emese Szasz was at seventh place in the previous month. She made an amazing comeback this month as she jumped upward to the second place in the rankings. Szasz is now at the second place in the 2010-11 World Rankings of Women’s Epee with 177 points.
Previously, French Laura Flessel-Colovic was at the sixth place and now she is at third spot.

6. Tatiana Logounova from Russia with 146 points
7. Bianca Del Carretto from Italy with 136 points
8. Imke Duplitzer from Germany with 130 points
9. Anna Sivkova from Russia with 125 points
10. Yujie Sun from China with 121 points
