Magellan... does he deserve it???

Magellan is the fame first one to circum-navigate the world...

yet... he died in the philippines and never made it back...

do u think he should really be the famous one...?

Im learning this topic in school right now.

He died, but someone else went for him. So I dont really think so. It would be Magellan and................ So I dont think so. But its just cheating. Who decided it was his anyway?

Well think about Columbus.  He came to the New World three times, but he never knew there -was- a New World!  He died thinking he had been in the East Indies three times.

Magellan was the one who finally proved that you could sail all the way around the world.  It was possible but, given the technology of the day, just barely possible.  He didn't make it himself, but he set out to go around the world and his plan worked.

And he didn't have a Magellan!  8^)
