Magglio Ordonez gets to showcase his fitness level in a private workout

Scott Boras is an agent who thrives in the trading season. For Major League Baseball, Scott is an angel to the players and a demon to the ball clubs. The high rated agent is responsible for landing some of the most expensive deals on the table and that is
one of the reasons why he’s constantly a threat to clubs in both, the American League and the National League.
He was responsible for landing Jayson Werth with the Washington Nationals on a 7 year long, $126 million contract. The man now represents another hard hitter in the free agency and that player has been a long member of the Detroit Tigers line up.
Magglio Ordonez was one of the Tigers’ best players and even though he’s been around for a long time, his age seems to be a concern for the club. The veteran recently injured his ankle and that is one of the reasons why the Tigers made no significant offer
for his services for 2011. Now with a dearth of out fielding free agents in the horizon, it appears Ordonez is attracting attention and in a private workout he was able to prove his fitness.
"We had a workout today with Magglio where he got a chance to illustrate just where his baseball abilities were at," Scott Boras said. "That took place this morning. Teams got to see that. I really don't know (how many teams) because I haven't gotten the
report. I know that Detroit was there for sure."
Magglio’s knee was repaired and his move towards regaining fitness has lured in interest from the Texas Rangers and the Boston Red Sox. Even though there have been concerns on his health, the two year play time demand is something the Detroit Tigers are
not taking up for debate.
"Magglio is a guy that has gotten a lot of interest from a lot of teams now that Jayson has signed," said Scott Boras. "He's a middle of the (order) guy. He's had a great batting average, been a productive guy, he's a veteran player and he's a winner. There
are a lot of things about Magglio Ordonez where he fits a broad base of teams. Once Jayson signed, a lot of the teams interested in Jayson are now interested in Magglio."
The Tigers know how the market is shaping up and if they don’t act quickly, they may never see Ordonez in a Tigers uniform again.
