  1. Not a chance.  Not only would they have to legalize it, but they would have to amend the Constitution, which is an extremely difficult thing to do.

  2. Depends on what you mean.

    Article 2 of the Constitution requires a President:

    be a natural-born citizen of the United States;

    be at least thirty-five years old;

    have been a permanent resident in the United States for at least fourteen years.

    So someone who's a naturalized citizen cannot be President.

    Someone born on a US military base or in an embassy overseas, and hence a "natural born citizen" could be President provided they've lived in the US long enough.

  3. I doubt you get the momentum on the issue to amend the Constitution.

  4. It's not that it's ILLEGAL; it's UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

    Thus, it would take a Constitutional Amendment -- which is hard to do. Recently, we've resisted more amendments. Even on issues people feel strongly. (For instance, even though a majority of American oppose g*y marriage, they also oppose an Amendment that would prohibit it.)

    There's no need to, it seems to me. We're a big country; surely we can supply decent people for that job.

  5. Indigo is right, the %s needed to amend the constitution are close to impossible these days.  In addition, most voters want their president to be a U.S. born citizen.

    If it was ever going to happen then it would've been in the early 1900's when there was such a huge immigration from Europe.
