Question:

Magic Jack + AT&T High Speed Internet 6?

I wanting to get the MJ and notice theirs alot of mixed reviews on this little device. Some of the bad reviews from people I believe is just a poor ISP or people not too knowledgeable in the savy tech world to actually use such a device properly.

Question is, Has anyone used the Magic Jack in conjunction with AT&T Fast Access DSL Extreme 6 (6 MBPS Connection) and is it stable enough to hold a flawless VOIP connection service like Magic Jack?

Of all the internet services I have had like Local Cable internet and Earthlink DSL which were both not only slow but pretty crappy, AT&T DSL seemed to be a constant 5.8-6.4 MBPS in speed and rarely goes down or gets and slower then that even with high volumes of traffic.

Any take?

  1. You will be FINE!

I've read where the Magic Jack really only "needs" 130Kb. up and down.  Some even say it sounds good with only 256kb up!

Memory may be a more important limitation.  1 Gig might be considered as "minimum" for best performance.  But again, some with older (retired) pc say it works well with less too.

It could be some complainers work for telcos, Vonage, etc. and want to breed FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) about the Magic Jack to slow down a gizmo that will hurt their biz.

It's generally more the power of computer you'll install it on, as opposed to the broadband connection you will be using.

For a good short primer, screen shot previews of the install process and links to discount coupon codes, try this site...

I never found a valid coupon when I ordered, but there are a number of people that got lucky and they'll report if it worked.

    Good Luck!
