Yes, incoming and outgoing calls are free.

However, I prefer not to use the term "free".  As you pay $20 for the USB adapter and $20 for the first years usage.  So, while it is very low cost, I prefer to call it Unlimited calling, rather than free.

I have never tried MJ myself.  I am put-off by their annoying infomercial style of marketing and advertising.

The other person does NOT have to have Magic Jack...and yes, the calls are free...sort of, you have to pay for the jack and then a year's service, so really it isn't "free" but it is still CRAZY cheap.
