The Hall of Famer is excited about the Los Angeles Lakers but tips Miami to defend their throne....

Magic Johnson has always been an ardent Los Angeles Lakers supporter and has voiced his support for them through thick and thin. The Hall of Famer is naturally very excited about the re-vamped Lakers roster and he recently talked
about how it changes the whole dynamics of NBA.
However even with a revamped Lakers roster, Johnson believes Miami Heat are still the favourites to capture the NBA throne once again.
"You still have to consider Miami the favourite because they're the defending world champions," Johnson said. "But I think the Lakers are right there with them, no question about it. It's going to take them a couple of months to
get to know each other, probably about three months to become a real team. You have Steve Nash, Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol. So they have to learn how to mesh together. Once they do that, they're going to be awesome."
This might come as surprise to many but Johnson is making a fair point as it still remains to be seen as to how this star studded line up gels together.
There might have the best talent individually on nearly every position but the fate of the franchise will only be decided only if likes of Howard and Gasol play the post to perfection and if Bryant allows Nash to run the offence
while keeping his scoring prowess going.
Banking on Miami to defend their title is right because they have embraced their new style of playing small ball. With LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh running the show they have gone on to add the long range exploits of
Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis into a team which already shot pretty well from range.
In the long run, success may come the Lakers way but at the moment, Miami appear to be the better team to Johnson. However nothing for sure can be said and if these two teams are the best in their conferences, the likes of Boston
Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder are certainly not far behind.
