As far as I know, there is no special ticket to buy for Disneyworld to avoid lines other than the fast pass offered at rides...

  1. Fast pass is very helpful. Its actually your room key ( if your staying at the resort) You can charge anything on it from any park. For fast pass you go to the rides your interested in, swipe the card, then it tells you a time frame to come back. ie 5:00-6:00  (usually within the next hour)So you come back  along with the small group of people that had the same time as you, and jump to the front of the line. people with fast pass usually try to get there at the earliest time frame ie 5:00     I found it helpful to go near latest time frame ie 5:50    that way you can avoid other fast passers      .

  2. There is no avoiding lines, take plenty of patience and good shoes. I took advantage of the fast past system and it helps. We also used a book I think it was called the unofficial guide to disneyworld. It gave a whole plan depending on the amount of time you had and the age of the children. It worked exactly as they said. It is so worth the cost.

There is nothing worse than thinking the line will die down on a ride at the end of the day only to see it at 2 hours wait at 8pm.

  3. Don't go to Disneyworld until September. Universal is much better!

  4. you are right for disney world the only way to have a shorter wait in line is to get a fastpass for that ride. they are free you just put your park ticekt into a fastpass machine and it gives your ticket back and prints out a slip that tells you what time to come back to the ride so you can get in the fastpass line and avoid the longer wait time of the regular line.

for universal studios and islands of adventure you can purhcase a skip the line pass for $50 that allows you to skip the line at attractions all day long. they also have a free system like disney world does but it works the same way as well. you get a slip that tells you when to come back and wait in the less crowded line. but if you want to skip the lines all together you will need to buy the $50 pass.

and yes you can go to hard rock cafe if you are going to islands of adventure cuz hard rock cafe is at universal city walk it is not in one of the parks. city walk is open to everyone to enjoy you only need to pay to park as you would always need to do when going to univesal. the genreral public is allowed to go to city walk you don't need a ticket for the parks or anything. so yeah you will deff be able to go to hard rock cafe.

  5. IMO the fast pass at WDW is better because it's free.  (Also, you'd be surprised at how many people don't know that, so they don't utilize it.)

I don't know about the others, but the 3 pieces of advice I'd give for saving time in line are:

    1.  Go during the slow season.  For popular rides it could mean the difference of waiting in line 15 mins and 90 mins and you'll spend less.  (You could either get the Unofficial Guide book or just look up Disney hotels and they show you the "off-season" dates, etc.)

    2.  Some of the popular rides have single rider.  If you're going alone or don't mind splitting up your party and riding with a stranger, go for it.  You get a lot faster than the regular line!

    3.  For popular rides that don't have single rider, go get a fast pass as soon as you get into the park.  Then go on rides that aren't as popular.
