Magic Marmalade set to shine at Exeter – Handicap Hurdle Preview
Magic Marmalade is going to make a big impact at Exeter racecourse where he will run for the title of Haulfryn Holidays Handicap Hurdle on Wednesday, April 4.
The Philip Hobbs-trained young gelding will daringly compete against three rivals including Gulf Punch, Sea Saffron and Free Advice.
The Class 4 contest over 2m7f110y distance is scheduled to start at 3:50 (GMT). There is reserved £4,549 of prize money for the event.
Magic Marmalade marvellously clinched top spot in his last outing on March 18, 2012. Being 11-8 favourite, the dashing horse delivered an outstanding performance in the tough marathon of 25 Years Of Service Richard Aggett Handicap Chase.
This epic success helped him gain great confidence and establish himself as a hot favourite runner in the betting market.
After making his debut in November 2008, the talented sprinter bagged the maiden triumph of his career in January 2011. During November-December 2011, he grabbed second and third positions in two back-to-back races.
Overall, the Racing Magic-owned gelding owns enough talent and fighting spirit. His chances to finish first in today’s race are more than 90 percent.
However, his only potential competitor, Sea Saffron, can deny him success as the Susan Gardner-trained bay gelding is also carrying a lot of momentum after his epic victory in the last start on March 20, 2012.
The veteran horse has won 4 out of his total 20 races to date. He has been a consistent performer since the very beginning of his career.
Free Advice will also be able to perform well in the race. The trainee of Keith Goldsworthy finished third each in two consecutive races on December 22, 2011 and February 22, 2012. Prior to this, he had gained a runner-up spot in June 2011.
In this situation, victory will definitely be a tough task for Magic Marmalade but the brilliant gelding can dominate his rivals easily if he does not lose stamina on the track. Let us enjoy an amazing battle. Good luck to all the runners.
