  2. ebay is always a good place to get good and powerfull cards cheep (only problem is they are not always in the best condidtion)

beatdown is usually a good way to make a cheep deck. green / red is good. use lots of small creatures that deal decent damage.

you can also make a REALLY powerfull storm deck REALLY cheep. a friend of mine made one that has a 83% win ratio and it only cost him $10. (there were no rares in that deck)

  3. 1- click on this storelocater:http://entertainment.upperdeck.com/yugio...

it give you address and phone number of good care stores near you. Even though it says yugioh, they have lots of stuff from magic you can buy!!

2- All colors are good try out all of them to see what suits you and your theme.

  4. 1) I shop at ebay for special cards or cards that aren't readily available at card shops.

2)I found that "rogues" are cheap and inexpensive cash and cost wise, my rogue deck is black based and one of my only decks that have a single rare in it.  Here's my Rogue deck,

    "Rogue Style"

    15 Swamps

    2 Inkfathom Witch

    3 Faerie Macabre

    3 Nightshade Stinger

    3 Silver Myr

    4 Stinkdrinker Bandit

    4 Oona's Blackguard

    4 Nightshade Schemers

    4 Marsh Flitter

    4 Prickly Boggart

    4 Frogtosser Banneret

    4 Morsel Theft

Very cheap and easy, and honestly it belongs on my top 10.  Give this a try and let me know if this helps.

  5. 1) I can't help you find good places to get singles in NC, but I'm glad you know that singles are the way to go.  Especially if the same place sells commons and uncommons by the singles as well.  A local store in Chico, CA sells 8 commons for $1 and 3 uncommons for $2, just to give you some comparison.

    2) I myself play a good cheap deck theme, known as White Weenie.  The Lowryn Block is providing you with Tribes, Elves in green, Kithkin/Soldiers in white, Merfolk/Wizard in blue, Goblins in red, and traditionally black has Zombies.  Of course each color has other tribes within, but you want something that is cheap but competitive.

One of my best friends got the two most recent Kithkin preconstructed decks and has made a very good deck out of it, combining cards like: Wizened Cenn, Goldmeadow Harrier, Goldmeadow Stalwart, and Mosquito Guard just to name a few.  With these you'd do well to have 4 of each.   This is already 16 of your deck which will focus on creatures.  Also consider Raise the Alarm (from Mirrodin) which gets you 2 creatures for one card.  Your big creatures can be Kithkin Zephyernaut and Kithkin Rabble.  You'll want to add a couple other low-cost Kithkins like Ballyrush Banneret to keep other costs down.

Now for other spells, look at Crib Swap (good creature removal), Surge of Thoughweft and the Equipment-Veteran's Armaments.  Another card worth spending some money on is Militia's Pride, that will puts lots of pressure on your opponent, as will Preeminent Captain.  So aside from these last two everything is common or uncommon, and by the way, you're probably fine sticking to just plain old Plains for this deck.

  6. I hate to break it to you, but all the good, non-expensive decks are gone, since almost every deck has a set of the one very expensive, shamefully popular card that costs 1G and is by the name of Tarmogoyf. Sure, Tarmogoyf is a fabulously undercosted creature, and it can become broken when you play it late game, because it’s often a 4/5,5/6,6/7 for 2 mana. Green used to be the cheapest colour to get into in magic. Now, thanks in part to Tarmogoyf, Colossus, and Garruk, green is fast becoming one of the most expensive colors to splash into.

So, there won’t be any green near a budget player’s table anytime soon.

I’d suggest you go the traditional route of White Weenie. The deck doesn’t cost a lot, and it wins a fair amount of games. It is very fast and very easy to play (play a guy, attack with guy, pass turn, play a guy, attack with guy, pass turn…) It can often conclude games on turn four, before anyone has any time to get out their bigger threats. It’s also not that expensive. The only two rares you’ll ever need is Mirrorweave and Thisledown Liege. Nothing else matters.

You can also go Red/Green Aggro Burn, but because it has green in the deck, getting a $200 set of tarmogoyfs may not appeal to you. Still, you can play without Goyf, but you’ll find that the deck lacks a lot of power. I would recommend you play the best common burn spells, a few uncommon burn spells such as Flame Javelin and Firespout, and the great creatures that hit hard, such as Keldon Marauders and Tattermunge Maniac.

Try it out, you’ll find your deck eventually. Remember, you must play a deck that you enjoy playing, because if you don’t like your deck, you will always lose with it.

    Hope that helped.
