Hypothetically, through instants, echantments, or w/e, if a creature with lifelink ends up hitting for negative damage, do you lose life? or does it just go to zero?

  1. Plain and simple, creatures can't go below zero power so you'll never lose life.  If a 1/3 gets -2/-2 'till the end of turn, he is just goes to a 0/1.

  2. There is no such thing as negative damage. Whenever there would be a negative amount, it is counted as 0. You also cannot bid negative life on cards that say you can bid. There are very few negatives in magic the gathering, and damage can never be one of them.
