Magic jack help???????

Question

ok i have a magic jack and whenever i call out or a call comes in the box pops up on my screen interupting movies or games or whatever im doing,,,my question is ,,is there anyway to disable it from popping up on the screen and just staying hidden untill i want to look at it,,,like when i want to check the caller id?please help

unfortunately you can't stop the "pop-up" from happening. I think it's annoying too. I am thinking about fixing one of my laptops and make that the dedicated Magic Jack computer...

Have you tried simply unplugging it from your computer? or if a call comes in simply click anywhere outside the Magic Jack window to hide the window?

UPDATE:  Also if you open the Magic Jack window & click on "Menu" you can select the option "Do not disturb".  Have you tried that?

Another idea would be to open Magic Jack under a separate user account and then switch users without closing the user account that Magic Jack is running on. UPDATE: I just tried it and it works - no pop-up window. Of course you won't be able to use caller ID this way, at least not on screen.

UPDATE 2: One more thing you could try is this: Bring up the Magic Jack window and using your cursor reposition it far off the left side of your screen as much as you can. If a phone call comes in only the edge of the Magic Jack window will pop up on your screen. I tried this and it works when I pick up the receiver on my phone only the edge of the Magic Jack window is visible on my screen. To see the whole thing I have to grab it with my cursor and drag it onto the screen.

you can not stop if from poping up, they do not want you to, they are supposed to provide ads on that screen... I wouldnt know, I have my MJ on a dedicated PC...

I have it and love it!! there is nothing you can do about the pop-ups....its suppose to pop-up when someone calls....most of the time the caller-ID only work on the softfone...!

but, remember..... your computer has to be on all the time!!

and there are a lot of tricks you gotta learn to make it work just right!!

its cheap.....but I would not wanted as my primary phone service!

I use it to call back to the US while traveling...........!

You need a computer and a high speed Internet connection like Cable or DSL (which I have)

VERY easy to install.....you will be up and running within 5 minutes...!

tip: after installation don't run it on the admin account...create another account for the MJ!!

Also, kinda watch and close out the device manager...but you will all learn that in good time on your own!!.
