if a monster has a split colour pie thingo in the top right hand corner of the card, does this mean i need the two colours or just one of them thank you

the hybrid symbols represent using either color to cast that spell.

The split mana symbols you are referring to are called hybrid symbols. You can pay either color of mana required for each of those symbols.

Note: No matter what color you pay, the card is still both colors.
