First I put Emberstrike duo in play, then what happens if I put another Emberstrike duo in play? Does it gain +1/+1 counter and first strike?

It's my first time using this kind of creature card since shadowmoor arrive and I'm new to magic the gathering too.

[sorry for my english]

I hope you can answer my question. Thank you.

  1. Any card that is played (other than a land) is a spell. The second emberstrike duo you play is both a red and black spell, therefore it will trigger both abilities of your first emberstrike duo, giving him +1/+1 and first strike.

  2. A creature IS a spell card. Emberstrike Duo is a red and black spell so you would get benefit of both effects, the counter and first strike.

  3. Whenever you play a black spell, Emberstrike Duo gets +1/+1 until end of turn.

Whenever you play a red spell, Emberstrike Duo gains first strike until end of turn. thats its card text

you actually get no effects at all since emberstrike duo is a creature and not a spell.

i know that before creatures are summoned that they are spell but when they hit the feild they are creatures.

a spell would be a sorcery, instant or enchantment.

so you get no effects for playing a second one.

  4. Most hybrid cards are both colors.  So the first Duo will see the second Duo as both a red and black card.  Therefore, it will get the +1/+1 until end of turn and the First strike until end of turn.

I say most hybrid cards because of cards like Beseech the Queen.  It is (2/B)(2/B)(2/B).  It is monoblack but can fit into any deck because it can also be played with 6 mana of any color.

And yes, anything you play from your hand, besides land, is a spell until it resolves.  Once it resolves, then it loses the "spell" tag.

  5. The first emberstike duo will gain +1/+1 and first strike until the end of turn.

Since the second emberstrike duo is a black and red spell, it will trigger both abilities.

  6. ok here the correct answer is it gets +1/+1 UNTIL END OF THE TURN, not a counter its diferent, and first strike.

secondly yes it gets as i said both and everything you play from your hand w/a casting cost is a spell, even if the cost is 0.

good luck hope this helps you.

    magic is an awesome game
