i have a few questions for someone who has a couple minutes to help out, thanks :)

1) what is regenerate?

2) for example, if a creature with 5/5 blocks a 3/3, does the damage roll over to the next turns, making it a 2/2, or does it go back to 5/5 after the turn is over?

3)i have a card called wake thrasher that says "whenever a permanent you control becomes untapped, wake thrasher gets 1/ 1 untill end of turn" now, does that include land? if i untap 8 land at the beging of my turn does that make him a 9/9 ?

4)i have a card called wall of fire that has a ability that says, "1 red mana: wall of fire gets 1/ 0 untill end of turn." now, can i tap 5 and make it 5/0 or am i only allowed to do 1? does it stack, and do other cards with similiar abilities work the same way?

5)if a card says something like if a black spell is played creature becomes 4/4 untill the end of turn, and the creature is black. does that make the creature 4/4 the first time it is put into play, since it was originally a black spell in the first place?

i know its alot but i hope someone with some knowledge will help me. thanks :)

  1. 1)Regenerate-The ability/spell to make sure a creature stays in play after recieving lethal damage.  Due to the effects of regenerate, the "revived" creature then has summoning sickness again as if you just put it into play (because technically, you kinda just did)

2)Combat Rule-When a creature is blocked damage is to both creatures unless one of the two have first strike.  Damage never rolls over unless the card says so or if the attacking creature has trample.  In case of a double block (without trample) both the power and toughnessare decreased by each blocking creature, however you decide where the damage goes to on the blocking creatures (and just one source if it does not have trample).

3)Permanents-A permanent is anything you control.  So wake trasher gets +1/+1 for everything that untaps until the end of the turn (eot).  This also happens during other players turns with the help other murktide liege.

4)Specified Abilities-Your Wall Of Fire has firebreathing, thus allowing it do more damage for every fire mana spent for this ability.  Certain cards say you may play this ability only "x" times (x is usually two times but it varies from card to card).

5)Cohort Rule-First off the cohort rule is flashy and made up (simply because the way certain cards work), the cohort rule states that if a spell is played before or after certain spells/summon(creature) cards they will recieve bonus or triggered abilities.  These cohort cards do not count for themselves (though it would be nice).  In your case the 2/2 creature comes into play as a 2/2 and does not count itself as black spell.

These are somewhat lengthy answers to your questions but I sincerely hope they are very useful to you.  Game on and good luck.

  2. 1.  Regenerate means the creature in question does not go to the graveyard upon being destroyed, but stays in play tapped.

    2.  The last phase of every turn is a "clean up" phase.  Right after end of turn effects are over, all damage is removed from creatures, state based effects are checked, until end of turn events are resolved and the next turn starts, so the 5/5 creature would be a 5/5 on the very next turn.

    3.  YES, permanents are all lands, creatures, artifacts, and sometimes enchantments that are tapped and the untap even includes the creature in question if it was tapped.

    4.  Unless limited by the card text, the abilities stack and you can have a very powerful wall, but remember, it doesn't add to the defense, so it can still be destroyed, but is usually guaranteed to take a creature with it.

    5.  The card specifies the creature and color so that other effects can or cannot target the creature.  If the spell/enchantment was black in the first place, it will always be black, but if you target the enchantment with something like a disenchant to destroy it, you might respond with something simple, like a funeral charm, which is a black spell that is an instant.  Now the enchantment is a 4/4 black creature and cannot be targeted by the disenchant, since it only destroys artifacts and enchantments, and fizzles.  Also, as a black creature, it cannot be destroyed by Terror and things that target non-black creatures.

    Hope this helps.

  3. 1) Regeneration is an ability that will keep a permanent from going to the graveyard. Usually creatures can be regenerated. You pay the regeneration cost, and then if the creature receives lethal damage, then you tap as an effect of the regeneration. You can pay regeneration costs as many times as you can (and want).

    2) All the damage taken by creatures wears off at the end of every turn. The damage does not 'roll over'. The exception will be creatures (or spells) with wither, which place -1/-1 counters on creatures, effectively shrinking them forever.

    3) Yes. Every time you untap a permanent Wake Thrasher will get +1/+1 EOT. It will get the bonus even if you have an untap ability.

    4) Yes. You can tap as many red mana sources as you want and your Wall of Fire will get +X/+0 where X is the number of red mana that you used. Similar abilities work the same way unless there is restriction on the card.

    5) No. When you are playing such creature, it is not a permanent yet, thus the ability does not work. When it comes into play, the ability becomes a triggered ability, which can not be triggered by the original spell. Further spells that meet the trigger criteria will grant the 4/4 status. If  you play 2 black spells, the ability will trigger 2 times and so on.

  4. Let's go over this one at a time.

    1. Regenerating a creature basically raises a shield around it so that the next time it would be destroyed, it is tapped instead. You can regenerate creature that would have been destroyed in battle by tapping it and paying its cost.

    2. Sadly, no. All damage (combat or otherwise) is removed as a state-based effect at the end of the turn. If the attacking 3/3 had wither, though, the damage would be dealt as 3 -1/-1 counters, and these would stay on the creature forever.

    3. Yes. Permanents are cards that stay on the table. This includes lands, creatures, artifacts, and enchantments. Wake thrasher would therefore grow to massive proportions each turn, since you untap all your permanents (the untap step is mandatory)at the beginning of your turn.

    4.  Yes, you can activate activated abilities any number of times, as long as you have the mana to do it. The ability would stack on top of each other, and your opponent can respond to each activation of the ability.  This used to be a central part of the Reveillark combo deck, in which Mirror Entity’s effect (set to zero, reading 0: creatures you control become 0/0 and gains all creature types until the end of turn) is stacked multiple times in combination to Reveillark to create a infinite stack in which bad things happen (you can, for example, bounce every permanent that your opponent controls, gain infinite life, deal infinite damage, and so on.)

    5. No. The said effect would only trigger after the creature itself resolves, because the mimic has to exist before it can “see” any other black spells be played.

Hope that helped. Don’t be hesitant about asking questions, as there are always someone who will take the time to answer them. Remember, even the best pro was once a noob/
