I was also thinking i want to use white and blue decks but use a variety so i thoght i should get a white and blue theme deck that i saw.

  1. ok first you shouldn't buy 8th edition because it is not type 2 and you would not be able to play in tournements. so you need to buy 10th edition and up which is 10th, coldsnap, planar chaos, timeshift, morningtide, shadowmore, lyrown and so on. Second you should pick what clor you want. Black is pretty much destrying things and dicarding. Green is big creatures. White is gain life. Blue is counter spells. and red is direct damage. so pick a color buy that color(s) deck and find someone to help you.

  2. I would buy the 8th ed. because it is older and there are some killer cards in it. But the others are right you should get a tenth edition core set and maybe some tournament packs from lorowyn, morningtide and shadowmore. Also you might want to consider getting a pre constructed deck and practice using it over and over again to figure out all the ways it can work, then try adding and removeing cards with the boosters and the core set you bought that you feel might enhance some of the tricks put in it by wizards of the coast.

  3. If you're just getting started, you still need to develop a playing style. I started using control (literally decks that control the pace of the game), and switched to more of an aggro style (meaning focus is on getting out creatures to deal damage). The two other general decks are: burn (deals damage directly to a player) or combo decks (decks that only focus on creating a killer combo).

Once you decide on a playing style I suggest buying a theme deck that is current. For a beginner, I would suggest tenth edition or Lorwyn. If you want to start playing with a friend, then buy a tenth edition starter pack or a Elves vs. Goblins two player started pack. Both use current cards, and are a good introduction.

  4. um well since 8th eidtion is so far behind now id get a newer set to start from.

as for the blue/white theme idk.

    its kinda challengeing for begginers.

and not to mention that blue has kinda high mana cost with very low atk creatures.

where as green is semi high mana with high atk creatures

also black is good for quit kills and red is good for direct damage white is good for healing.

depends what type of strategy you want to use.

i use green thats has high atk and easy life gain.

my deck completly runs off of high atk.

like numbers of 40 sometimes 50.depending on how many creatures of one type i have.
