What would happen if you played Gaseous Form on a taunting elf would you still be able to use taunting elf's ability?

Yes, because it wouldn't work if you had a water form such as a Sea Snidd.

Gaseous form only prevents the Elf from dealing or taking combat damage... it in no way has any affect on whether it can be blocked or not. All of your opponent's creatures that can block it still have to.

yes, because it doesnt take damage, and the creatures that block it cant deal damage to it

All the creatures will still have to block the taunting elf. Gaseous form will only prevent the damage that the elf will deal and receive, but all creatures that can block it, will have to block it.
