  1. Good questions. I will answer in reasonable terms (aka excluding some on the original sets)

I favorite block is probably the Mirrodin block, the mechanics and shear power was fantastic. As far as standard play goes, I really like the new Shadowmoor block, and this friday I will be tournament testing my white/green enchantment hate deck.

My least favorite block was hands down Kamigawa. They just made a terribly weak block to make up for the overpowered mirrodin block, and the cards are just not fun to play with.

I don't live and Ohio, so can't help you there, but there are a lot of shops in Ohio try looking one up on wizard's website and visiting it.

The best beginner's deck is an elf deck using the recent Lorwyn block. It is straightforward, and has a lot of power. In general any mono colored aggro is probably the best beginner's deck.

For experts the is no set color combo. Every block has extremely strong and difficult to see decks in it. The vintage dredge decks (using ravnica, futuresight, and coldsnap) tend to be some of the best, and they are green/black. Blue/black faeries are probably the most powerful instandard right now, because bitterblossom is an incredible card. Green/Red mana ramps are on their heels because of Chameleon Collosus' power teamed with Gruuk Wildspeaker. Duran G/W/B decks are also up there.

I typically don't play tribal decks, but my favorite are the elementals. I like playing multi colored decks that are very defensive, and very offensive at the same time. Elementals are best suited for that I think.

    BONUS:

Right now, though I think persist is my all time favorite mechanic in magic. It is awesome!

  2. I started playing with Urza's Saga, and still is my favorite set (so much overpowered stuff!). My least favorite set is Coldsnap.

    No living in OHIO, sorry.

Begginers should start with Green/Red. Its pretty straightforward, it helps learn the combat rules really well, and usually teaches you a lot of how to balance land to spell ratio and building on a curve. Experts will probably look into White Blue or -nowadays- Blue Black. Those are the color combinations that require more experience to get ahead.

Goblins. Hands down a dcent goblin deck will eat elves and anything else every day of the week. Note how there is no 'elf' deck in formats like Vintage. Also note that goblin decks are always all over the place.

  3. my favorite set was probably ravnica right after it came out, followed by darksteel right behind it, my least favorites are probably kamigawa and ice age, I hate ice age because I hate force of will, and I hate kamigawa because it was essentially wizards apologizing for making hte overpowered mirrodin block by making an underpowered one IMHO

I have no idea if anyone in ohio plays often I live in nc myself, just look on wizards .com

there are different good color combos in different formats, vintage is seeing a lot of blue/white as well as black/green dredge, standard is seeing a lot of u/b faeries and r/g mana ramp as well as g/b/w doran control, legacy sees a lot of different mixes, g/b rock, u/w control, g/w/r zoo, and block has a lot of mono decks right now but a lot of assorted decks as well

I think taht overall in the history of magic the best tribe is either elves or goblins, it dependso n the format, in vintage, probably goblins, same with legacy and extended, in standard I'm gonna have to say elves in my opinion, I know most people are going ZOMG N00B LOOKS ATS TEH FAERIEZZZ!11!!1! but I think there is enough enchantment hate coming out to make bitterblossom less potent, especially with all the 'enchanting evening' decks that I think will be spawned

  4. First off, Fifth Dawn is probably my favorite set. I love to use artifacts and Fifth Dawn has some of the best. And I would have to say Lorwyn is my least favorite because it radically changed many of the mechanics involved in the game and made it easier to accomplish things that took a multitude of cards to do in the earlier sets. Everyone has the same decks out of this new block. I live in Northeastern Indiana and I play almost everyday. Very close to a lot of places in Ohio. Colors in this games are best picked by individuals. Each color, in a way, represents a persons character. I think an individual will pick a color that best fits there attributes, so it is any ones guess as to what color or colors are right for you. I happen to love blue. Almost every thing I build is centered around control. Black is another of my favorites it has a lot of elements of control in different forms. I am not big on creature specific decks but if I had to choose 1 it would have to be elves. There fast and multiply quickly and they have a lot of cards they allow you to gain mass amounts of life which is the best way to control game length. I hope I have been helpful.

  5. the best monster is galiotior beast  its 1900atk and 1600def no tribute

  6. 1) Invasion block is my favorite.  It was what got me into the game.  Kamigawa is the worst set ever.  The only thing that would have made it worse would be to add Homelands and Fallen Empires into it.

    2) Look here for Ohio players.

    http://forums.gleemax.com/forumdisplay.p...

pages 26 and 27 have Ohio players.  And then there are others that place the city first so they are out of order.

    3) Best color combo for new players=Green and White.  Easiest and fastest.

Best color combo for experienced=Blue and Black.  Control wins the game.  They are arguably the most difficult colors to play.  You have to know when to counter and newer players are afraid of losing life for a certain outcome.  Experienced players know that the only life that counts is the last one.
