Magic the gathering questions?

hey, i have a few questions about magic and just wondered if you could help a little :-p

ok

faerie swarm, "power and toughness each equal to the number of blue permanents you control"

does fairie swarm get +1/+1 for its self? as it is a blue permanent after all!!

pretty much the same question again but this time its "jagged-scar arachers" do the archers get +1/+1 as they are indeed an elf i control!

I learned from a guy who's been playin for like 15 years and he said they do

i think its so that if u dont hav any other blue permanents it wouldnt be TOTALLY pointless, but still pretty pointless...

there effects mean other permanets.

i wish that they would.because i have a few cards like that as well.

no...if it meant itself it would probobly say saything like (this card gets +1/+1 for each blue permanents you control, including this card)

I honestly doubt that it says that so no...it meens every other card

yes they count for themselves as well

No, it means every blue permanent.

Flying

Faerie Swarm's power and toughness are each equal to the number of blue permanents you control.

So, when it is in play, you count the number of blue permanents you control and, lo and behold, Faerie Swarm is a permanent and it is blue. If it didn't count itself, it would say "For all other blue permanents you control"

Same goes for Jagged-Scar Archers - you count elves.

Compare those with Goblin King - "Other Goblin creatures get +1/+1 and have mountainwalk".  Even though it is a goblin, it does not give itself the benefits.
