Magical Dream and Spinacre, at stark ends, meet at the same level in the C.L. Weld Park Stakes (Fillies)
Seven two-year-old runners have taken up the seven furlong challenge of the Group 3 C.L. Weld Park Stakes (Fillies) for claiming the €35,750 prize money on Sunday, 30th September, 2012 at Curragh. Not all the entries have raced in the graded company, thusly it will be their debut today, and a chance to prove themselves worthy of future graded options.
Besides the Group 2 Juddmonte Beresford Stakes, trainer, Aidan O’Brien, has covered ground in the Group 3 through to 10 to 3 shot for the race, Magical Dream. The tussle would remain between him and the improving racing icon, Spinacre.
The stark difference between the two is the level over which they have raced, excelled and learned. For Aidan O’Brien’s under charge, the experience today will be nothing new as the last two outings of the two-year-old bay filly were with the graded company.
However, the other bright prospect for the race, the Irish grey filly, Spinacre, who is backed by 5 to 2 chances for landing the race, is racing her debut at the level today.
She has progressed drastically through the four career outings.
The Kevin Prendergast trained cleared her maiden on 20th August, 2012 at Roscommon race course in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Median Auction Maiden over seven furlongs.
Paired up with jockey, Chris Hayes, she rode through the field of ten by the highly impressive margin of ten lengths, defeating, Lirico.
The connections selected for the daughter of Verglas, was the Flame Of Tara European Breeders Fund Stakes (Listed Race) on 15th September, 2012 at Curragh over a mile.
She took over the trip with conviction and confidence, keeping the closing in rival, Reglisse, adrift by 2 ¼ lengths once again with Chris Hayes onboard.
The steady progression has brought her to the graded level which she will take part in with the same team, and has drawn the sixth gate.
Galileo’s daughter, Magical Dream, is getting the chance to settle accounts with the previous losses she had to suffer through. Putting in all that she got to learn through the outings, specifically the last two, will give her enough to engineer the winning technique.
