Magicjack phone service?

Magicjack costs $20 per year right? I heard your computer has to be on 24/7 in order for magicjack to work. How much will electricity cost per year?

your question is not possible to answer with out knowing where you live, the cost of electricity varies from state to state. Also diffrent PCs use diffrent amounts of electricity, depending on there processor, programs and services running.

I live in NYC (one of the higher costing electric suppliers) I run 4 PCs 24/7 monthly my electric bill is around $150

Your PC does need to be on for the Magic jack to provide dial tone to your telephone, but you do not have to leave the PC on 24/7 if you do not want, if you are out at work what reason would you have to have your phones ringing? you can have your PC shut down, and run only when you are home...

I love my magic jack... it is worth it, and the QoS is MUCH better then skype.

I use the MJ as my only home phone service (supplemented by my cell phone) I give out my Grand Central number to people, not my MJ number, so I never miss a call, even in the rare instance that my PC is off...

I wouldn't use Magicjack for your PRIMARY phone service. It still has it's problems, and is not yet 100% reliable in the first place. It is mostly used for long distance calls, and students far from home . In any case, I also would not keep my computer on 24/7. Over a period of time, heat, dust, and the constant CPU useage would take it's toll on your system. (Dust from the constant fan useage.)

I have 2 magic jacks at home. I only use it when I dont want people to see my house number on their caller id. If you have a cell phone you can call forward your magic jack number to your cell phone.

At this time I would not recommend magic jack to be your primary phone because they still have some glitches still need to be fix.

It only cost $20 so still buy it and see how much a difference your electricity bill will be

Rich is right!!....its only good for 2nd line and really cheapskates....(college students) but I also have one...just for this purpose....a cheap 2nd line...!
