Magna Fiddler prominent in the Sheffield Stadium Stayers 660 metres
Taking their chances with the £200 prize money of the Grade OR Sheffield Stadium Stayers 660 metres are, Tianas Whisper, Russelena Dixy, Magna Fiddler, Farloe Kyle and Hather Siobs. The race will be held at Sheffield on Monday, 31st December, 2012. The highly assorted line-up comes from different backgrounds.
With the recent success story at the open level is the four-year-old black dog, Magna Fiddler. The J. Hayton trained has now been racing since three seasons.
His first attempt at the open level was in the RP Greyhound TV 550 Maiden Dup on 2nd February, 2012 at Henlow over 550 metres.
He finished a decent second after the evening’s favourite, Westmead Ourora, who made the transit to the other end in 33.87 seconds. Magna Fiddler ran on and missed the wire by 3 ¾ lengths.
The first success of Westmead Joe’s son in the open race was in the Greyhoundscene Stayers on 5th May, 2012 at Sunderland over 640 metres. Leading from the fifth position, the third trap never looked back and completed his trip to the other end of the wire in 40.19 seconds.
Missing the winning spot by a neck’s mark as the most popular entry of the race, Rathbeg Duchess.
The last two outings of the four-year-old saw two stark results, in one he was declared not raced while the other one saw him pinning the prize money.
The Carling Standard Trophy on 3rd December, 2012 at Nottingham over 500 metres did not turn out to be a very fortunate trip for the four-year-old. He broke from the second trap and was soon ruled out of the rankings.
The race was won by, Jordans Chris.
Magna Fiddler then went all out in the Sheffield Stadium 480 on 13th December, 2012 at Sheffield over 480 metres. This time speeding out of the second trap proved lucky for him as the four-year-old made the most of the lead that he could grab only near the wire. The blue jacket raced across on the other end in 28.62 seconds.
He defeated Floral Jake by just half-length.
The four-year-old will need to make an effort from the third stall tonight.
