Magnavox TV not working in the UK

Question

I bought a LCD TV in USA and have got it back to the UK and bought an electricity converter which works fine. However i cannot seem to tune the TV in at all. I select auto tune and it dosent find any stations.

My question is: Does a tv bought in the USA work on a different frequency that in the UK (and therefore will not work in the uk)
