Magners League upcoming weekend’s key encounters – Rugby news
Ulster, Ospreys, Leinster, Cardiff Blues, Scarlets are currently placed at 2nd, 3rd, 4th,5th and 6th place of the Magners League respectively.
Munster is on top of the table with 12 points lead to the second placed Ulster.
For now, the situation is unclear; as which team will make to the play offs for the Magners league. Particularly when the point difference of the team in contention for place in the play offs is very little. Ulster, Ospreys, Leinster, Cardiff Blues, Scarlets
have 59, 57, 56, 52 and 51 points respectively.
With such little or low difference a win or lose can turn the fortunes around the team.
Munster will be taking on the Scarlets at Parc Y Scarlets, Llanelli on Saturday. Munster is coming from a big win against their Leinster earlier in the season. This is the make or break game for Scarlets who are yet to play there three remaining games in
the Magners League. Scarlets, will be hoping to put up good performance against the Munster. If Scarlets are to lose, they should still try to earn a point out of the match to keep their play offs hopes alive.
Ulster will take on the Leinster at Royal Dublin Society, Dublin. Ulster and Leinster are separated by a difference of three points and win for Leinster will put them in second position in the Magners League. Leinster will be high in confidence as they are
coming from a big win. Leinster defeated the Leicester during the last week to make their way to Heineken Cup semi-finals.
Cardiff Blues placed 5th in the table will take on the Connacht in Galway Sports ground. Blues can consider themselves lucky, as they will take on a slightly weaker side. Connacht is placed eighth in the Magners league with 39 points out of their 19 games
in the season so far. Blues will start the match as favourites as some of their key players are returning for Friday’s game.
Third placed Ospreys will take on the Dragons at Rodney Parade, Newport. Ospreys will start as favourite Dragons will field their second string of players. Dragons key players are missing out of the Friday encounter due to injuries.
In other matches, Edinburgh will take on Aironi and Glasgow will play Benetton Treviso.
Overall, we are all set to witness some interesting encounters during the weekend as the Magners League reaches its climax.
