  1. Good question, my partner loves magners and I buy it for him but it does bump up the price of the weekly shopping!

  2. the same cider brand you are talking about originated in ireland under the name bulmers, it was seen as a cheap nasty drink used by underage teens drinking in nasty conditions.

in an award winning marketing campaign it was rebranded and associated with upper class events such as golf, a total marketing campaign re-established it as middle upper class trendy drink, and so the price rocketed with the benefit that the higher price inferred quality.

some sort of big marketing award was won for this turn-around.

the guinness tastes different in ireland because of the lepruachans.

  3. Guinness tastes different (better) in Ireland because it does not travel very well.

  4. A "proper" pint of Guiness should be poured in "Guinness Time": roughly three quarters of the pint is pulled, and then left to settle. Once the head has fully formed, the glass is then topped up. This convention is often disregarded outside Ireland, which is one reason why people think Guinness tastes better in Ireland. Another reason is that the lines which carry the Guinness from keg to tap are treated with a special reverence in Ireland, and are generally always kept scrupulously clean.

  5. Cider, I didn't know it was expensive, but then I seldom drink anymore ...

Guinness tastes disgusting no matter where or how it's poured, but that's just me ...

  6. The main reason Guiness tastes different in Ireland as opposed to everywhere else is that the Guiness breweries take water from local sources so in Ireland it's taken from the River Liffey, in England from the Thames etc.
