Question:

Magnetic vehicles?

I know there have been other questions, but I was not able to add my information or thesis. I have been thinking of magnetic energy and not in the way of making the road positive and the car negative. What if we position magnets like so and I hope this shows up right. p being positive, n being negative.

Now what if the magnets slide over top of each other creating a force. We are talking about powerful magnets. The further you push the pedal the further the magnet slides over top of its opposite. Pushing against the positives would spin (after lots of mechanical factors) the trans mition. There would also have to be something to press the magnet back a little and forward again to keep it turning. I know there is a lot to consider. The main question is do magnets have the amount of energy required to push a vehicle? Just want some other thought on this.

  1. small world! i myself have been toying with the idea of a magnetic propulsion vehicle, now i'm seeing more and more about it ;p

I figured i'd have been the first to think it up XD. Heck, as long as it gets done. My idea had to do with using small electrical charges to change the polarity of the magnets so that they push and pull rapidly, thus moving a pistons or something

  2. You are on the right track , to get that kind of push you need lots of power to the magnet to push that kind of weight. Electra magnet? Needs power ( AC ) to give it some oomph. The pedal is probley varable resister ,or a mechanical slide type deal .Pushing the magnet back and forth across the pos and neg field. to get fwd and back motion. I don't know. I would think, you need to keep  the power to the magnet constant? Besides using AC power?   Is that what you are asking ?

  3. There are trains that work like that.  But they use electro magnets that turn on and off to move the train.
