Magnificent Rocha leads Reno Tahoe Open
Alexandre Rocha is still in search for his maiden title on the PGA Tour and according to the Brazilian, the reason is that he is always a slow starter. However, Rocha could not have a better start to the second round.
Rocha birdied his first three holes, followed by an eagle to storm his way to the top of the leaderboard.
Rocha currently has 24 points according to the modified Stableford scoring system, a system that encourages aggressive play. Rocha has been very aggressive from the day the event teed off.
His second round score means that he now leads the tournament by 2 points. Following the Brazilian is J.J Henry sitting comfortably with 2 points.
"I was fortunate to get off to the hottest start I think I've ever had in my professional career," said Rocha, who finished the day with seven birdies, three bogeys and an eagle.
Rocha has never won either on the PGA or on the European Tour but overall he secured nine international titles at a time when he was the all American selection at the Mississippi state.
"But never as a professional either in Europe or on the PGA Tour have I started with 5 under through four holes," he said. "It always helps to create momentum, which is something I've been missing all year long".
John Daly is also enjoying his time out on the course, although he is not among the leaders but he is playing some nice golf. Such kind of format suites players like John Daly who like to hit big.
"You can get real aggressive. There is a lot of birdie holes out there. The fairways are generous," the long-ball hitter said.
Padraig Harrington, the Irishman, is having some trouble on calculating scores, he has never played in such a format. The Irishman currently has 14 points and was tied for the 23rd  spot after the end of the second round.
This Irishman is quite unhappy with himself this season. He has not been in the best of forms. He is quite far behind and he will need to make up quite a bit of ground if he has to challenge his rivals for the title.
